Holi! Festival of Colors

This Saturday was the yearly Festival of Colors at the Spanish Fork Hare Krishna Temple. I had heard a lot of good things about the festival and I had seen some awesome pictures, so there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to attend this year. So I hit it up with a few other friends and it was a blast. It was crazy when the color throwing started b/c you literally cannot see the sky or any surroundings (like ground zero was I imagine) and it was hard to breathe for a bit. But it was all good and things cleared out and we danced the evening away singing...

Hare Krishna! Hare Krishna!
Krishna Krishna! Hare Hare!
Hare Rama! Hare Rama!
Rama Rama! Hare Hare!

It is an easy and fun chant to learn. I don't exactly remember the significance of throwing colors at each other but I am sure you can read up on it online. I will definitely be back next year!

Fun. I've been to celebrations there, but it must not have been the Festival of Colors, because I sure didn't look like that when it was done.

Jay, you're a lady's man!! I'm glad you got to go to this festival. William and I went there a few times and really enjoyed it every time. We went to the festival of colors once and it was so fun, except for when I thought I lost my camera and I cried a bit. But other than that it was fun! I thought it was so cool how everyone, strangers, acted toward each other in a way that you wouldn't in other, more normal social situations. Like everyone was friendly and playful. Did they have a band playing? I wish there was a hare krishna temple around here! Wait there probably is...

I like the new look. Please don't update in Portuguese though.
